The peak of Langtang (7246m) can be seen north of Kathmandu on a clear day. In the course of the trek which takes about two weeks, you will go to a pleasant valley at the foot of the peak passing through rhododendron forest after entering Langtang Natinal Park at Ghora Tabela ((3048m). On the way to Langtang you get good views of Ganesh Himal (7406m).
The trail traverses regions which have remained relatively backward and closed to outside influence. The Sherpa country in the vicinity is an exception, of course, since there have been so many mountaineering expeditions in this area since the early 50’s. This is also second most popular trekking area in Nepal- next only to Annapurna trekking area. It is estimated that about a fifth of trekkers in Nepal visited Everest area recently whereas Annapurna area was the choice of 57 percent.
You can have the experience of the pure air and breathtaking vistas of the Langtang Region- surely home to the Gods. From the hubbub of Kathmandu, take a trek into a remote haven of glacial scenery, spiritual sites, lush valleys and mountain villages. Lightly populated, this area offers true adventure trekking where the accommodation is basic, the food is simple and the time spent here is glorious. Stay on an organic farm, spy out red pandas and form a thousand memories of one of the most beautiful places on earth.
